Rainout and Forfeit Procedures
Rainouts1. If it's raining throughout the day, a rainout will be called by the league's umpirein-chief by 3:30 pm of game day.
2. To find out if your game has been called, contact the Mabel League Rainout Hotline after 4 pm:
604-684-9872
press 1 to get into the menu
press extension 2072 to access the message
3. Listen to the message. If it doesn't say the current date and time, then your game is ON! Your team must show up at the park or risk forfeiture. If the time and date is current and a rainout is called, teams will be notified of rescheduled games.
4. If you show up to play and it begins to downpour, it's up to the umpire to call a rainout if conditions become unsafe. However, teams should be prepared to play in light rain due to our limited time slots for rescheduling.
Forfeits
If your team knows they have to forfeit a game, please attempt to provide at least 24 hours notice. The umpire's association requires 24 hours of cancellation notice or will charge the usual fee to the league. Your team may face penalty if this happens too often.
Process:
1. If you are forfeiting with MORE than 24 hours notice: fill in the forfeit form on the report score page. This will email the UIC, Statistician, Team Rep of opposing team AND Pat Dooley at vsua@shaw.ca
2. If you are forfeiting with LESS than 24 hours notice: fill in the form on the report scores page AND PHONE the UIC, Statistician, Team Rep of opposing team AND Pat Dooley at 604-325-2849 and vsua@shaw.ca
The team you were to play, as the winning team, must report the forfeit win of 7 - 0 to the statistician online.
